AFLAS® is the trade name for a unique fluoroelastomer based on an alternating copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and propylene. The material is used for o-rings, gaskets and many coatings.
AFLAS has some unique features:
- Very good heat resistance up to 230°C continuously (steam up to 200°C)
- Chemical resistance including strong acids and bases
- High electrical insulation value
- Very resistant to oils
- Available with FDA approval
At Qseals we use AFLAS (TFE/P) as sealing rings (O-rings) and gaskets in some of our mechanical seals.
