At Qseals we use all kinds of materials, including rubber, metal, ceramics and graphite. Each material suits a different situation. Graphite, for example, is used for seals and brushed motors, and also for pencil leads. Qseals supplies graphite seals for all these applications and industries.
What is graphite?
Graphite is a natural mineral form of carbon. It occurs as a native element, but also in certain rocks that contain organic carbon, for example in magma. It is one of the softest solid elemental materials. Graphite has a non-compact, layered structure. Within each layer the carbon atoms are strongly bonded to each other. Graphite is also a relatively good electrical conductor.
At normal temperatures, graphite is the stable form of carbon. It has many industrial uses in various natural or synthetic forms. The material is used in mechanical engineering, electrical production, the steel industry and as a moderator in nuclear reactors. Big advantages of graphite are that it’s easy to machine and highly resistant to thermal shock. Graphite is also self-lubricating.

Carbon and graphite from Qseals
Qseals specialises in machined (turned, milled, CNC) carbon products and parts. We focus mainly on carbon products for industry. We also supply semi-finished products, such as carbon rod and tube.
You can come to us for small and large products, from prototype to finished product. Whether it’s 1 product or 10,000 carbon products. Send us your drawing with the material specification and you’ll receive a quote for turning and/or milling. You can also outsource the assembly of carbon parts to us, if needed combined with other materials. For example, shrink-fitting carbon rings or lapping carbon (rings) for mechanical seals. We can offer you a competitive quote with short lead times!
